Statement of Faith
THE CHURCH
- The name of the church is the Temuka Baptist Church.
- The church is a community of those who believe in one God eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit: who have repented of their sins and been saved by personal faith in Jesus Christ through His atoning death and resurrection; who publicly confess their faith and who are committed to the church’s aims and functions.
- The church believes in:
- The true humanity and Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- The atonement made on the cross by our Lord Jesus Christ for the sin of the world.
- The person of the Holy Spirit bringing individuals to repent of their sins and setting apart, empowering, and imparting spiritual gifts to the church.
- The divine inspiration of the Bible and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice.
- The literal interpretation of the scriptures and God as the creator and sustainer of all things.
- Salvation by faith in Christ alone. It is the gift of God’s grace through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- Membership of the church for the regenerate only.
- The immersion of believers as the only scriptural form of water baptism.
- The Ordinances of the church are:
- Believers’ baptism by immersion.
- Communion (the Lords’ supper) which is held at least monthly and open to all believers.
